2020 Virtual 4-H Farm Credit Showmanship Circuit

2020 is a year that we have all had to learn to adapt and be flexible. The 4-H Farm Credit Showmanship Circuit is excited to provide a virtual showmanship experience where youth can continue to learn and compete while staying safe apart. The 4-H motto is to make the best better and we are going to do just that.

This year’s Virtual 4-H Farm Credit Showmanship Circuit will consist of 5 virtual shows for each of the 3 species (cattle, goats, sheep). The Virtual Circuit will be open to youth in: Anson, Cabarrus, Chatham, Cumberland, Franklin, Guilford, Hoke, Lee, Montgomery, Moore, Person, Randolph, Richmond, Robeson, Rockingham, Stanly, and Union counties.

Each show will require the showman to upload a video answering the assigned prompt. The video should be 2-4 minutes long. Each video must be done in one cut with no editing. Pretend that the camera is the judge and make sure to maintain eye contact. Judges must be able to see the participant answer the prompt/questions. The prompt will be emailed out to each participant. The prompts will be instructions on how to show their animal in the video and questions they need to answer on video at the end of showing. Upon completion of the video, the participant will email their video to their 4-H Agent or Livestock Agent (see list of Agent emails responsible for each county). Participants will receive feedback (if feedback is needed) from the judges along with their new prompt by the next week. We will work on an abbreviated schedule of five shows. To be recognized, youth will need to participate in at least 3 out of 5 shows.

As always, the Circuit will award prizes to the best show person in each species based on a points system. All points will be totaled from the Circuit. The points will be awarded as follows: 5 points for each show in which you compete, the top person in each division will receive points as follows: 1st- 15pts, 2nd- 13pts, 3rd- 11pts, 4th- 9pts, 5th- 7pts.

Registration cost is $10 and the deadline to register is July 27 by 5pm.

All age divisions are determined by the exhibitor’s 4-H age, which is their age as of January 1st, 2020. Each participant must be actively enrolled in 4-H. 4-H Agents will verify enrollment in 4-H Online.

The 4-H age categories are as follows.

  • Cloverbud Ages 5-7
  • Junior Ages 8-10
  • Intermediate Ages 11-13
  • Seniors Ages 14-18

Each participant will need to be sure to submit the following forms to their county's 4-H agent PRIOR to the week of the first circuit show. The form can be found at this link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1UqtXLYZaqWcEsZkpe1ssTEjtKr3lb0ehiG8XFAZDxTQ/edit?usp=sharing
